Dash Marchetti · Race weekend desk

Formula 1 opens its season in Melbourne, where a public park turns into one of the fastest semi-street circuits on the calendar for a weekend.
The Australian GP has finished. Replays are on F1 TV Pro, and on Apple TV in the US.
What channel is the Australian GP on?
It depends where you are. In the United States every session is on Apple TV — the rights moved from ESPN ahead of the 2026 season, so it is no longer on cable. In the United Kingdom it is Sky Sports F1, with free highlights on Channel 4. Canada has TSN and RDS; Australia has Fox Sports and Kayo.

What to watch for at Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit
Season openers are the only race of the year where nobody knows the pecking order yet, so the first practice runs matter more than usual. Albert Park has been notably quicker since it was resurfaced and several corners were opened up, and the run down to Turn 9 produces genuine overtakes. For most of Europe and North America this one lands in the early hours — set an alarm or plan on the replay.
The Australian Grand Prix is round 1 of the 2026 championship, run on a 5.3 km part-street, part-parkland lap around Albert Park Lake, fast and flowing with walls close enough to punish a mistake. The race distance is 58 laps, roughly 306.1 km.
