SpeedGrids is a daily Formula 1 trivia game. You can play it fully anonymously; signing in is optional. This page describes what data the site actually stores and processes, where it lives, and how to get it removed.
Data stored in your browser
Game data is kept in your browser’s localStorage: your in-progress and completed grids, play history, streaks and statistics, rarity scores, and a randomly generated anonymous device identifier (a UUID). This identifier is not derived from your identity and is only used to de-duplicate guesses when computing answer-rarity statistics. If you sign in, Supabase’s client library also stores your authentication session tokens in localStorage. Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of this and resets your local progress.
Anonymous gameplay data
When you submit a guess, the server receives the puzzle, cell, chosen driver, and your anonymous device identifier. This powers the rarity feature — the percentage of players who picked each driver. These records are not linked to your name, email, or IP address by the application.
Optional Google sign-in
You can sign in with Google to sync stats across devices. Authentication is handled by Supabase. When you sign in, we receive your Google account’s display name, email address, and avatar image URL, and store the display name and avatar in a profile record. We also store your completed grid results (mode, puzzle, date, score, guesses used, and rarity) so your streaks and statistics follow your account. We never receive or store your Google password.
Analytics
The site uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, device types). It is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use cookies to track you across sites. We do not run advertising trackers, and gameplay analytics events never include your name, email, or puzzle answers.
Cookies
SpeedGrids does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Session state for signed-in players is kept in localStorage rather than cookies.
Third-party processors
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides analytics.
- Supabase — hosts the database and authentication service.
- Google — identity provider if you choose to sign in with Google.
Each processes data under its own privacy policy. Formula 1 statistics used in puzzles come from the openly licensed F1DB dataset and contain no player data.
Data retention and deletion
Local data stays in your browser until you clear it. Account data (profile and synced results) is retained while your account exists. To delete your account and its synced data, contact us using the method below and we will remove the account, profile, and result records. Anonymous rarity aggregates cannot be tied back to you and may be retained.
Security
Traffic is served over HTTPS and account data is protected by row-level security in the database, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a trusted browser and device.
